I love what I do and I’m in my third year running my business full time. But recently I’ve fund photographing for work and focusing on work all the time can be draining even when you do what you love.
My remedy, find inspiration from the masters. I try to visit a gallery at least once every other week. My favorite gallery in London is the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) especially the ground floor. They constantly rotate the work so there is always something new to see in their collection and regularly updated exhibitions and no surprisingly I don’t just like the photographs!
My favourite work in the NPG is the painting of Mo Mowlam by John Keane. I love how the colourful brush strokes capture the glint in her eye, her mischievousness and her disheveled look that The Mail readers were always reminded of but those of us who could see her depth looked beyond and loved her for her focus on the politics and not the fashion.
I yearn and will always strive to capture as much in my portraiture.
